Bend, OR

This trail, which runs along the Deschutes River in Bend, is within walking distance of Mark and Susan's house in Bend. We set out on Saturday afternoon, with no special plan, but ended up walking for about 3 hours - about 3 miles. Eli walked every step! We were all tired when we got back to the house. Eli fell asleep while waiting for dinner. It suited me just fine to just sit and
hold him!!!

Spring visitor

Floyd caught this moment today at noon at a feeder on our patio. The weather has warmed up the last few days with lots of sunshine. The daffodils are blooming. It's a glorious season! Of course, there's still some winter weather yet to come, but spring is well on the way.

Loggers

Now that the Ellis family has moved north to Oregon, Eli is already perfecting some appropriate skills for life in this neck of the woods. When Poppi started his chainsaw last Saturday, he was right there ready to help.

Three year old creativity

Here's our little 3 year old Eli showing his creative side! The little paint-filled brushes won't last long at this rate! Lovely work, wouldn't you say???

Only 3 weeks until "the Ellis family moves to Oregon"!! Can hardly wait!!

Settling in

Christmas and the 60th birthday celebration is behind us now. Peter left this morning. We had a grand weekend, spending two nights at a beach house at Lincoln City during a winter storm! Then dinner with friends, then dessert with Floyd's family. But now it's back to normal again. With days of gray skies ahead here in Oregon, winter sometimes drags on. But I just noticed that my daffodils are already 2 inches out of the wet ground! You know what? Spring is coming! Those daffodils will bloom by mid to end of February!!!! That will go a long way toward brightening the dark days.

Hoping your 2007 is off to a good start!

Maybe politics.....

......would stir the waters enough to make joining in the conversation more fun! Or maybe discussing parenting, or hymns vs. choruses (!), or turning 60, or American-made vs. Japanese, or abortion rights, or travel, or what the kids are doing, etc..........................................this was started to offer a way of keeping in touch as painlessly as possible.....no postage, no stationery, short paragraphs, little time................but haven't seen a lot of activity yet.

Feel free to comment. Would love to hear from everyone.
